MBFW: Perry Ellis F/W 2011

All Photos: Winnie Jeng

The theme of the day at Perry Ellis was simple and classic. Pea coats, blazers, turtlenecks and sweaters in wool, leather, shearling and other animal-products were the most eye-catching and prevalent items in the collection. Almost every item in the collection was in muted earth-tones, which created a subdued, timeless look that would look great in an office or business setting.

The show itself was a very traditional runway event that featured male models with coifed hair that was very modern, but definitely could have fit on the set of most classy ‘Grease’ production ever. When the show concluded, all of the models came back out on stage at once in matching Perry Ellis shirts and white pants.

MBFW: Venexiana F/W 2011

All Photos: Winnie Jeng
Opened with the classical “Swan Lake” (that swiftly transitioned to a heavy rock beat), the Venexiana 2011 Fall collection is a perfect blend of class, luxury, elegance and also fun. Fur, metal, silk and wool were used with distinct color combinations to create eye-catching dresses. Metallic gold and silver, bright colors were also designer’s favorites. Venexiana certainly put on a great show from beginning to end, the upscale coats and nicely–cut evening gowns were but a few of the highlights of the show. The two beautiful wedding gowns decorated with Swarovski crystals were absolutely stunning and fabulous, reminding the audience of the classy swan theme from the beginning of the show.

The extravagantly detailed design and the choice of material made this outfit extraordinary– the photo doesn’t do justice to the sparkle.

Nautica F/W 2011

All Photos: Winnie Jeng

The off-site Nautica presentation took place in the gallery right next door from the Lincoln Center site; the room of models consisted of three different platforms of statuesque people. An white-sail platform and a plank walkway added a sailor look. The orange and dark combo might is a fun alternative if you’re already tired of just the basic colors.
The classical use of cotton, wool, and knit were what made this collection perfectly preppy and wearable.

MBFW: Buckler F/W 2011

All Photos: Winnie Jeng

The Buckler presentation took place right in front of the Grand Street Buckler store in SoHo. Although took place in the chilly winter, the fabulous Buckler 2011 fall/winter season did not disappoint. As urban as it always has been, this collection has more of a big city boy vibe. With a pleasing usage of bright colors, lots in this collection are feeling young and ready-to-go-out. Details of the collection were chic and filled with energy.
FORMzine’s favorite picks:

The yellow buttons on the black shirt looked very cute with a dorky flare. Almost all of the outfits are perfectly wearable. Pick up a pair of bright-colored pants, cool winter boots, plus a chic and warm coat, and you’re ready to hit the streets of SoHo.
