It’s Fash Bash 2010!
This Thursday night, Fash Bash celebrated more milestones than ever. This year marks the 125th anniversary of the Detroit Institute of Art and the 60th anniversary of Saks Fifth Avenue in the Detroit area. Saks has also just opened up a brand new contemporary collection featuring lines from designers like Alexander McQueen and Vera Wang. Of course, there’s only one really appropriate way to celebrate—a fantastic party and runway show!
As Detroit’s fashion-forward and art enthusiasts perused the new Saks collection, a special guest musical performer, Detroit’s own Stephanie K had a strolling performance. With delicious hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, the event was most assuredly a smashing success.
For this special year, Saks flew in designer Robert Rodriguez to showcase his Fall/Winter 2010 line (available in the Troy Saks’ contemporary collection of course) in a runway show. Along with Rodriguez’s designs they also showed selected pieces from other lines in the collection—Miu Miu, Helmut Lang, Gucci, Prada, Jimmy Choo, etc. All of the pieces on the runway are available at SFA, and for those who bought clothes at the event, and all this weekend, five percent of the sales are donated to the DIA. As of the start of the runway show, Saks had already raised $50,000 for the DIA.
Here are some of my favorite looks for the evening, all available in Saks new contemporary collection:
