El Bulli “best restuarant in the world” is going on two year hiatus

Ferran Adria, the genius behind El Bulli

El Bulli, three Michelin-starred, widely considered the best restaurant in the world, is going on a two-year hiatus beginning in 2012. Chef Ferran Adria has stated that he will close his restaurant until 2014 to use it as a full-time research lab.

I suspect that the level of creativity in the El Bulli kitchens has gone down over the past years from the compromise of actually serving diners. I personally, look forward to seeing how they handle next year, and wouldn’t be surprised if they make it another retrospective menu. Of course, there’s still the rest of the El Bulli empire for those of us who absolutely must have our foamed everything.
