Ann Arbor’s Festifools!

Once a year, Ann Arbor’s Main Street is filled with gigantic papier-mache puppets, and throngs of onlookers gather to watch the festivities. This year, with the warm weather, the turnout for Festifools was huge and the sidewalks of Main Street were completely filled. Some of the highlights of the show this year were the three-pieced Cheshire Cat, a bloodshot-eyed koala that was a little bit too fond of ‘eucalyptus,’ a chain-smoking artist offering to work with food (and of course complete with Rae Baen sunglasses), and the parade-founder’s own extensively detailed Van Gogh puppet. And of course, the children’s parade—with assistance from 826 Michigan—was as adorable as you would expect a giant mass of children in robot costumes to be.
