This past Saturday evening at Dessange Paris Salon and Spa in Ann Arbor, FORMzine threw a fashion presentation to feature some of our favorite local designers and boutiques. As catchy music played (DJ Jacob Bolton), clothes were featured in presentation standing style from the GetUp (an Ann Arbor vintage clothing store), Fovea Apparel (an Atlanta-based clothing store that will be opening its doors in Detroit next year), Dorothy Elizabeth Designs (an Ann Arbor based clothing designer), and Heart Graffiti (Michigan-based silver jewelery). Hair and makeup was provided by Dessange Paris: Ann Arbor.

It’s party time! What beer should I buy?

If you’re hosting a party, and buying beer, navigating the selections at your local grocery store can be a little bit difficult and confusing. Now that a significant number of grocery stores stock decent beer, it can be even harder to know what you should buy. Here are a few beers that might be right for your party:

Coming Up: Ann Arbor Summer Festival

For those unfamiliar, the Ann Arbor Summer Festival is pretty much the place to be during the summer in Ann Arbor. With its free outdoor concert series, Top of the Park parties, and its ticketed indoor performance series. With notable guests such as Ann Arbor local band My Dear Disco, and 80′s synth-pop legends Devo, this year’s summer festival promises to be a good one.

This year’s festival starts on the 18th, and concludes on June 18th and ends on July 11th. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts the festival will not be operating on Monday’s.

For more information, and to buy tickets, visit the Ann Arbor Summer Festivals Website.

Coming Up: Total Eclipse of the Bot

Nothing brings out the best in people like karaoke, and I can’t imagine it gets any worse when robots are involved. So dress up like a robot (optional) and come out to Goodnite Gracie’s (301 E. Huron, Ann Arbor). Just remember to throw in robot-themed words into your favorite songs. For more information, check 826Michigan’s post about it here.

Total Eclipse of the Bot
Robot Karaoke to Benefit 826michigan
Wednesday, June 2, 8pm
Goodnite Gracie, 301 E. Huron, Ann Arbor

$10 cover charge

Inspired by the EPIC success of Bot Caroling last December, Robot Karaoke is another excuse to replace words in songs with “robot.” It is no secret that, in preparation for Bot Caroling, Amy spent ten super quality minutes doing a Find/Replace in a document of carols with “angels” and “robots.”

Participants are encouraged to dress up (but are not required to — we know all-too-well how personally offended cyborgs become at such a proposition), and will be expected to Find/Replace the word “robot” into whatever songs they desire. Admission is $10, which, wouldn’t you know it, benefits the free student programs we offer here at 826michigan.
